The Textile Artist a new beginning

Welcome to my new blog.

Wow, what a journey I have been on in the last few years. For those who do not know me let me introduce myself.

My name is Cindy Watkins, I live in Tasmania Australia in the stunningly beautiful Golden Valley surrounded by misty mountains and rainforest. I feel blessed indeed.

The love of art and creation has been my passion since I can remember. But in the past 10 years, this has morphed into an obsession with textile art. I love it! There is something special about textile art that you can not only enjoy visually but has a tactile and touchable element. Everyone who sees my work reaches out their hand to touch. You just can't help yourself.   I must admit it becomes a problem when exhibiting as you don't want to many fingers touching your work. But I don't blame anyone for wanting to.

I have now created many works and have a neverending supply of ideas. In fact, more than I could possibly create in a lifetime, I am sure many artists have the same challenge So to get a bit of focus and direction to my work I have set out on this project to create 5000 trees. I love trees they are incredibly important to us and this planet.  I also wanted to support an organization that is working to care for our environment I choose Landcare Australia.  For every tree stitched and sold I donate $2.

I look forward to sharing my artistic journey with you all.
